btns.ai — Your content, custom AI buttons, and web activities stay private and are never shared with us. There's a brick wall between your data and us.

PRIVACY POLICY (as of March 2026)

Privacy-First Summary

❌ No browsing history is ever seen nor accessible by us.

❌ We do not inspect or store your AI requests or responses on any server.

❌ No analytics or tracking is done.

❌ No ads, ever.

❌ We never see your Stripe payment card info.

❌ We do not log, monitor, or have access to the content of your AI interactions

❌ We do not retain any content you send for processing

❌ We do not store or see any personalized/custom AI buttons that you create in btns.

❌ No data is ever sold or shared. The only data we'll have is your name, email, number of tokens used for the month.

❌ Your content is not used by btns.ai to train any AI model

❌ Since AI processing is handled by third-party providers, btns.ai itself does not retain any data from your interactions beyond usage counts for billing.

✅ Your content stays yours.

✅ Any new custom buttons, configurations, or AI results that btns saves is stored in your Google Drive.

✅ AI results are never stored server-side.

✅ Your preferences and data stored locally on your device.

How Your Data is Handled - We only have access to your email, subscription status, and AI token counts; however, we have zero access to your browsing history, the web content you process, your AI interaction results, or your Stripe payment card details.

  • Account information: When you sign in with Google, we only receive your name, email address, and profile picture if you have one. This is used solely for account management and subscription access. It is not shared or sold to any other entity.

  • Subscription & billing: We store your subscription status and AI usage counts to for billing purposes. Payment card details are handled entirely by Stripe our third-party payment processor. Stripe does not share this information with us — we never see or store them your payment card details.

  • Browsing history: Nothing. We do not store or track what sites you visit, save, or interact with.

  • Button usage / analytics: Nothing. We do not monitor which buttons you click or how often. The only usage we track is AI token counts for billing. We do not know which tokens (words) are used, we only keep a running total of tokens used for AI billing.

  • User accounts: Required. Sign in with Google is used for account access and subscription management.

  • Data Stored on Your Device - btns.ai stores your preferences (such as button layout and settings) locally on your device using `chrome.storage`. This data:

    • Never leaves your device

    • Is never transmitted to the developer or any third party

    • Is never collected, read, or accessed by anyone other than you

    • Belongs entirely to you and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension

AI Processing - When you click an AI-powered button (for example, "Summarize" or "Create Flashcards"), here is exactly what happens:

  1. The relevant content (such as a video transcript or page text) is sent to a third-party AI service for processing

  2. The AI generates a result (summary, flashcards, etc.) and sends it back to you

  3. Your AI usage is counted for billing purposes (only the fact that a request was made — not the content)

  4. That's it. The interaction is complete.

Subscription and Billing - btns.ai operates on a subscription model:

  • Monthly fee: $4.99/month for access to the extension.

  • Monthly AI usage: Billed separately based on your consumption that month. The amount depends on how much AI you use ($0 to $2).

  • Payment processing: Handled by a third-party payment processor. btns.ai never sees, stores, or has access to your payment card details.

  • What we store for billing:

    • Your subscription status (active, cancelled, etc.)

    • AI usage counts (number of requests — not the content of those requests)

  • What are NOT stored:

    • No credit card numbers or payment details are stored.

    • No content of your AI requests or responses are stored.

    • No buttons you clicked or what pages you were on are stored.

Google OAuth - Google sign-in is required to access btns.ai. Here is how it's used:

  • For account access:

    • btns.ai uses the userinfo.email and userinfo.profile scopes to identify your account

    • Your name, email, and profile picture if available are used for account management and subscription access

    • Your Google credentials are handled entirely by Google's OAuth system

    • btns.ai does not store your Google password or access token on any server

For Google Drive exports (optional):

  • btns.ai uses the drive.file scope — it can only access files that btns.ai itself creates

  • If you never use the Google export feature, this scope is never exercised

Permissions Explained

  • Host permissions: To extract video transcripts and page content when you click an AI button. Only activated when you click a button.

  • scripting: To control video playback (speed, loop, volume) using standard HTML5 media APIs.

  • storage: To save your button layout and preferences locally on your device.

  • identity: To enable Google sign-in for account access and for exporting to Google Docs/Sheets/Slides.

  • offscreen: To process audio and media content in the background when needed for AI analysis.

  • activeTab: To read the content of the current tab when you click a content analysis button.

Every Permission is User-Initiated

  • Nothing runs in the background, nothing runs automatically, and nothing is activated without you explicitly clicking a button.

Advertisements

  • None. btns.ai contains no advertisements and never will.

  • Never third-party data sharing.

  • We do not sell, share, trade, or transfer any user data to any third party for advertising, analytics, or marketing purposes.

The External Communications that Occur are:

  1. AI processing: When you click an AI button, content is sent to an AI processing service. This content is processed and returned — it is not stored or used for any other purpose by btns.ai.

  2. Payment processing: Subscription and billing are handled by a third-party payment processor, which operates under its own privacy policy.

Your Data, Your Ownership - All data associated with your use of btns.ai — your button configurations, your preferences, your AI results — belongs entirely to you.

  • You can delete all locally stored data at any time by removing the extension from Chrome

  • You can request deletion of your account and all associated server-side data (email, subscription status, usage counts) by contacting us at the email below

  • Upon account deletion, all your data will be permanently removed from our systems

Children's Privacy

  • btns.ai is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

  • If we update this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
